Harvey Clay Bridges, son of Clay D. and Mary L. Bridges, was born December 16, 1895, on a farm in North Putnam county near Fincastle, Indiana, and passed away very suddenly January 27, 1940, at the home of his mother in Fincastle at the age of 44 years, one month and eleven days. He was united in marriage to Florence Faller of Roachdale October 7, 1916, and leaves to mourn his departure the widow, mother; one sister, Mrs. Virgil Terry of Paterson, New Jersey; two brothers: Fred of Lafayette, Indiana, and John William of Indianapolis; one half-brother Robert C. Bridges, of Warren Points, New Jersey and a host of other relatives and friends. For many years his social activities were centered in the Masonic order of Morton, Indiana and although he was not affiliated with any church he attended the Universalist church at Fincastle regularly for a number of years in his early life. Harvey was born and reared on a farm and followed that occupation for several years until he became a member of the executive staff of the White Castle chain of restaurants. This line of work brought advancements and he was transferred from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Newark, New Jersey, on August 1, 1930, where he has lived the past nine years. He was very successful in this line of work and the many contacts he made in business and social life won him scores of close friends. He was a devoted husband and a most affectionate son, always trying to do some turn that would make life more abundant for others, thus ending a useful and beautiful life.
