Brattain, wife of Isaac Brattain, bid farewell to the sorrows of this life and
passed to the land of rest. She was the daughter of James Martin and wife, of
Hamilton County, Indiana. She was born October 5, 1865, being aged 28 years 4
months 29 days. The deceased grew up to womanhood respected and loved by all.
She was married to Isaac Brattain in March 1887, since which time they have
resided at Vivalia, where she had gained the respect and love of a large circle
of friends. To them were born three children, two of whom survive, one an
infant 18 days old, the other, Bernice, a bright little girl of 3 years of age.
Mrs. Brattain was a member of the ME Church, a devoted wife and loving mother.
Her daily walk in life was that of a Christian; she expressed no fear at the
approach of death but on the other hand, before becoming unconscious expressed
herself as being ready and prepared to submit to the summons. The bereaved
family have the united sympathy of the friends and neighbors, who were so kind
and willing to lend their assistance during her illness. A face we loved is
gone, a voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our home which never can
be filled… one who knew her. - transcribed by kbz
