for several years. The last few years, Mr. Branneman had lived a retired life.
Beside the widow Telitha Davis Branneman, four children survive: Mrs. William
Walker, Mrs. Hazel Wallace, Oren Branneman and Clarence Branneman, all of whom

County Ohio the fifth child of Jacob and Elizabeth (Stillinger) Branneman. He
came from Ohio to Indiana with his parents in 1854 where the father locate in
Jefferson Township but later locating in Cloverdale township where the father
bought a farm consisting of 120 acres about three or four miles southwest of
Cloverdale. John grew up on this farm. He was educated in the schools of the
township. On October 25, 1877, he married Telitha Davis. After their marriage
Mr. and Mrs. Branneman lived two years on his father’s farm then moved to the
east part of Cloverdale Township and bought 119 acres and lived there 16 years.
Here he got an excellent start and then bought the fine farm where he now lived
in the east part of the township. He
followed diversified farming and had been very successful. He had divided up
his land among his children, retaining enough to insure him a comfortable income.
For the last few years he had not been actively engaged in farming. Mr. and
Mrs. Branneman were the parents of eight children, four of whom now survive.
Mr. Branneman was a Democrat but was not an office seeker; however he had
served on the advisory board of his township for a period of eight years. He discharged his duties ably and would have
had many more favors conferred upon him by his friends, had he been willing but
he preferred to lead a quiet home life. He and Mrs. Branneman were both members
of the Christian Church. – kbz
