Mrs. Mary Elizabeth BOWMAN highly respected resident of New Ross passed away Sunday night at ten o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. Gertrude LINN after an illness extending over a period of three years with Bright's disease. Mrs. Bowman was born near Parkersburg January [sic June] 13, 1844 and when eight years of age came to New Ross where she had since made her residence. She was the daughter of John C. and Elizabeth Patrick POWELL and was united in marriage to Josiah Bowman in 1882. Her husband passed away several years ago. Mrs. Bowman until her illness took an active part in the affairs of the Christian church here. Those surviving are one son, Bruce Bowman, and two daughters, Mrs. Eliza MYERS and Gertrude Linn. Two grandsons, Mark and Manson, also survive. The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the New Ross Christian church with the Rev. S. G. Smith of Ladoga in charge. Burial will be made in the Pisgah cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth POWELL, daughter of John C. and Elizabeth PATRICK Powell, was born June 13, 1844, near Parkersburg, Ind. At an early age she united with the church at Providence, and later transferred her membership to the New Ross Christian church of which she remained a member. On Oct. 16, 1862, she was united in marriage to Josiah Bowman, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1888. To this union four children were born, one son, Bruce Bowman, of near New Ross, and three daughters, Minnie A., who died in infancy, Mrs. Gertrude Linn of New Ross, and Mrs. Eliza Myers of Ladoga. Two grandsons survive, Mark E. and Morrison [sic Manson] Linn of New Ross, also five half-brothers, John I., William, Messer, Charles and Elmer Powell. She is the last to pass away of seven full brothers and sisters, Thomas M. and George W. Powell, Ariaim [sic Arian] EVANS, Minerva SPOHR, Matilda STEWART and Eliza MILLER having preceded her. After an illness of almost a month she passed away at 10:45 o'clock on Sunday evening, July 21, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Linn, having spent a long life of service to her loved ones, her neighbors and friends. Among her favorite parting words were these, "May the Lord watch between thee and me while we are absent from the other"
