Mattie E. Hamrick Boswell
Mattie E. Boswell, daughter of Jesse and Lydia Hamrick, was born in Putnam county, Oct. 3, 1876, and died, Sept. 17, 1906. (Dates from Death Certificate-kbz)
She was married to Ora Boswell Apr. 4, 1900, to them were born two daughters, Lydia Oliver and Lucy Worth. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves a mother, four brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her demise.
Mattie Hamrick Boswell had a kind and loving disposition which won for her many friends. She was industrious, and unselfish, ever ready to help those around her. Six years of her life were spent in teaching school, always successful, each year assuming greater and larger responsibilities and meeting them with the novlest kind of fortitude. For several months before her death she was a patient suffered of tuberculosis. As she lay dying surrounded by loving relatives and friends she said to her husband, "I have a home in heaven."
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hoaglan at Little Walnut Baptist church, after which she was laid to rest. The tender words of sympathy given to the bereaved family indicate the universal sorrow.
