BOSWELL, Francis - WW II

Pfc. Francis L. Boswell of Co L, 151st Infr 38th Div, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boswell.  He was born June 28, 1914.  He entered the service of his country April 12, 1941.  He served at Camp Shelby Miss; Camp Carrabelle, Fla; Ft. Benning, Ga, Camp Livingston, LA; Hawaii and New Guinea.  He returned to his home land in San Francisco, Cal Oct 14 and was rushed to Louisville KY where an unsuccessful brain tumor operation was performed and where he succumbed.  He has been ill since he landed in New Guinea.  His body arrived home in Greencastle Oct 27th accompanied by T Sgt General W. Brandaw of Ohio.  He is survived by his parents, six brothers and one sister, Wilbur of South Bend; Howard, Rockville; Bryan and Cloyd of Vancouver, Wash Ira, Greencastle; S Sgt Kenneth of US Air Force, Panama and Mrs. WD Merrithu of Chicago.  Like a ship that’s left its mooring and sails bravely out to sea, so someone dear has sailed away in calm serenity; But there’s promise of greater joy than earth could have in store, For God has planned a richer life Beyond the unseen store. – Card of Thanks – We wish to thank all the relatives, neighbors and friends for their kindness during our sorrow.  Also the undertakers, Mr. and Mrs. McCurry, Rev.
