BOOKWALTER, Elaine Morgan - Putnam

Elaine Morgan Bookwalter was born Nov 12, 1928 to Dale and Mildred Morgan in Evansville, Indiana and died in Greencastle IN Jun 11, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Lt. Dale Morgan, Jr. She is survived by four sons, Dr. John Bookwalter (Donna) of Pittsburg, PA; Dale Bookwalter (Rhonda) of Corvallis, OR, Tim Bookwalter (Mary Jo) of Greencastle, IN and Dr. Matt Bookwalter of Chinle, AZ. She is also survived by 1- grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Elaine was an accomplished musician who went to Illinois Wesleyan on a music scholarship. There she met and married Bill Bookwalter who had returned from WWII. She quit college after his graduation from college to raise children but she remained active in music as the church organist. After her children were grown she went back to college and graduated from Butler University. Elaine served as Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Opera Company and for 22 years produced the MacAllister Awards for aspiring opera singers. Family graveside services will be held in Evansville IN. Memorial contributions can be made to Howell United Methodist Memorial Fund, 1408 Stinson Aven, Evansville 47712.
