BLAYDES, James T. - Putnam

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Barnard Baptist church for James T. Blaydes, who died at his home south of Barnard Tuesday morning, March 5, 1940. Mr. Blaydes was 91 years of age. Mr.Blaydes is the father of Frank Blaydes, local resident, and was born in Harding county, Kentucky Novemer 24, 1848, a son of John and Mary Cash Blaydes. He was married August 17, 1871 to Mary Barnard, who died May 1934. Mr. Blaydes had lived in the Barnard community over 70 years and was a member of the Barnard Baptist church. Besides the son living here, other survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Roy Smythe of near here and Mrs. James Wright of Danville; another son Ben Blaydes of near here and six grandchildren, including Miss Wynoa Bladyes and Mrs. Claude Hanna of this place. Burial will be made in the Barnard cemetery.(additional info from obit in 3/2/1940 paper: Six children were born to them: four of who survive: Ben, Frank, Lucretia and Bessie.
