Greencastle, Nov 18 – The sudden
death of Mrs. Hattie Godwin Blanchard cast a pall over the campus and entire
city tonight. Mrs. Blanchard, who was born in Norfolk, Va came to Greencastle
with her husband 30 years ago. One son, William who is a supervisor of music in
the Sidney Ohio schools and Dr. Blanchard survive. She was a member of the
Methodist Church and was active in social and religious circles. She also was a
member of the Thursday Reading Club.
Mrs. Blanchard’s happy disposition made her one of Greencastle’s most
highly respected and beloved citizens.

University, Greencastle died yesterday afternoon in a garage at 14 North Senate
Avenue. Heart disease was believed to have been the cause of death. With Miss
Ruth B. Post, also of Greencastle, Mrs. Blanchard was waiting for Miss Post’s
automobile to be brought to the driveway. They were waiting in chairs in the
garage waiting room and Mrs. Blanchard suddenly sank back. She was place on a
cot and died before a physician arrived. Mrs. Blanchard and Miss Post came to
Indianapolis yesterday to shop and were preparing to return to Greencastle when
Mrs. Banchard died. Radio Patrolmen Power and Willis and Coroner Fred Vehing
