Last Monday afternoon, about
one o’clock Greencastle was startled by the report that Rev. William Blake, a
resident of the city for a number of years had died very suddenly at the family
residence on South Indiana street. Deceased had been down in the business part
of the city during the morning, returned home and went to work in his garden. A
short time after he walked into the house, ate his dinner and while seated in a
chair reeled over and was dead in a very few minutes, his sudden taking off
being attributed to heart disease. The funeral took place the following day and
was largely attended, the services being conducted by Dr. Martin, assisted by
Dr. Wiley and Rev. R. Roberts. Rev. Wm.
Blake was a member of the North Indiana Conference and had preached at
Bainbridge on the day before his death. He was in his 62nd
year. The sorrowing widow and children
have the sympathy of the community in this, their sad and sudden bereavement. - transcribed by kbz
