BLACK, Hallie Nelson - Putnam

Mrs. Hallie Nelson Black, widow of Dr. Claud Black who died in early 1956, passed away at Warren, Indiana last Saturday evening. She had been ill for some time and her death was not unexpected.  She was 70 years of age. Mrs. Black was born and reared in Bainbridge and lived on the Nelson farm near Morton until the family moved to Greencastle when she was about 16 years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James I. Nelson. Mr. Nelson died unexpected at Christmas time in 1957. Mrs. Black lived on east Washington street until her marriage to Dr. Black some 40 years ago. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Black of Warren.  The funeral will be held from the Brown Funeral Home in Warren at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon with burial in Warren.  Mrs. Black will be remembered here by many friends and especially the older set. Her family was quite well known in Greencastle and in Bainbridge as well as the Morton area. - kbz
