BIRCH, Matilda Yount - Putnam

Mrs. James W. Birch died at her home in Roachdale on Saturday evening following a paralytic stroke on the previous Monday. Up to that time she had been in her usual health. Her maiden name was Matilda Yount and she was born in Shelby County, Kentucky 76 years ago. Most of her early life however was spent in Waveland. Her mother, Mrs. Mary Kate Yount, owned the place where Owen Moore now lives. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Sam Staggs and two grandchildren; also by two brothers, George Morton Yount of Waveland and John Yount of Russellville. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon. Those attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yount, Mr. and Mrs. Mort Yount, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Staggs and Edgar Staggs. Burial at Roachdale cemetery.
