Another Putnam county boy’s name has been added to the Gold Star Roll of WWII with the news that James Robert Best was killed in action in Germany on April 16. His wife, Mrs. Bernadine Best has received a telegram from the War Department to this effect. Bob entered the service on April 1, 1944 and had been overseas only a short time. He is survived by his wife, a small daughter, Beverly Jean, his mother, Mrs. Edna Best, S. Locust Street and two brothers, who are also in service.
