BERRY, Mary Elizabeth Shingledecker - Putnam

Mary Elizabeth Shingledecker Berry, daughter of Amos and Sarah Alexander Shingledecker was born Feb 27, 1874 in Knightsville, Ind and departed this life Feb 27, 1953 at the age of 79 years. On Dec 19, 1896 she was united in marriage to Denny F. Berry and to this union 7 children were born.  One of these Fount J. Tillman preceded her in death.  She spent the greater part of her life in the vicinity of Brazil but for the past 21 years had been a resident of Putnam County.  She was a former member of the Christian Church and Rebekah Lodge.  To her friends the deceased was known as a woman who obtained great pleasure in doing good for others and was highly regarded for her many fine qualities.  As a loving wife and mother she was untiring in her patient sacrificing consideration of her family.  She is survived by the husband, two daughters, Mrs. Wenona Hurt, Martinsville, Mrs. Lucinda Rissler, Reelsville; four sons, James of Putnamville; Zeb of Cloverdale; Dallas of Fairview Park, Ohio and Charles of Cropper, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Four sisters, Mrs. Jesse Hughes, Tulsa, OK; Mrs. Anne DeArmy and Mrs. Rose Boyer both of Terre Haute and Mrs. Clar Neese of Gary.   -– kbz
