BATMAN, Jesse Voohees - Putnam

Batman, Jesse Voorhees, son of Thomas and Martha Batman, was born in Putnam Co., Indiana, 17 August 1862, and departed this life 21 February 1944, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 4 days.  He was united in marriage to Lovia Rice 12 September 1882, who preceded him in death 23 September 1922. To this union were born four children; Elsie C. Brothers, deceased; Ward R. Batman, Goldia M. Jefferies of this community and Gladys DeVore of Miami, Florida. He was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church and lived a unselfish and truly Christian life devoted to his family and friends.  He leaves to cherish his memory are one son, two daughters, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all especially his son and daughter-in-law, whom he made his home through the past few years. (note: he is buried at Roachdale Cemetery)
