The crash occurred at the Ollie Hopper corner two miles southwest of Wingate and Miss Ballard died at the office of a local physician about thirty minutes after the accident. Her death was attributed to internal wounds.
Miss Ballard was in company with her sister, Bertrall, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Virgil Ballard, of Wingate, and was driving south on the county line road about noon when the machine collided with a car driven by Forrest Murdock, Wingate farmer.
The Ballard machine left the road and crashed into a fence and Miss Ballard was thrown from the auto as it swerved and was picked up in an unconscious condition. None of the other occupants was badly hurt although both automobiles were heavily damaged. Mr. Murdock, who was alone, was headed east.
The accident victim was a senior in the Wingate high school and was a very popular member of her class. She came here with her family from Russellville a year ago.
Miss Ballard was under the machine when it stopped but it was not definitely determined as to whether or not the car had passed over her body.
She had gone to the home of her brother, Virgil, in Wingate, earlier in the day and was enroute home. Bertrall, the sister, was driving the car and neither, of the machines was reported traveling at a very high rate of speed. The road intersection is obscured by corn fields.
Aline Frances was born in 1917 near Russellville the daughter of Claude and Tillie Ballard, and had lived with her family in and near Russellville until the family moved to the Wingate vicinity a year ago. She was a member of the Christian church of Russellville.
Survivors, besides the parents and sister, include two brothers.
