BAILEY, Carolyn Louise - Putnam

BARNARD - Carolyn Louise Bailey, 73, of Barnard, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at her residence. She had been in failing health several years. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and Lynhurst OES. She was employed at the StarStore in Indianapolis for 20 years. She and her husband, Forrest, owned and operated the Barnard Grocery for nine years. She attended Indianapolis schools. Born in Indianapolis April 6, 1904, she was a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Newton Jester. She married Forrest Bailey in October 1921. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Maxine Alexander of Danville; Mary Ellen Pitchford of Indianapolis and Shirley Davis of Roachdale; a sister, Margaret Mae Alderson of Indianapolis; nine grand-children; and six great-grandchildren. A son preceded her in death. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Porter Funeral Home at North Salem with the Rev. Wayne Stine officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetary in Glens Valley. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.   --– jlr
