George R. “Bob” Arendt of Cloverdale died Saturday evening in the Putnam County Hospital. He had been in critical condition four days. Born in Gettysburg, PA on Sept 28, 1888 he was the son of David F. and Elizabeth A. Weichart. His first wife was the former Grace Guise, who died April 8, 1938. He was then married to Pauline Taber who survives. Mr. Arendt had lived in the Cloverdale community for 60 years and was former publisher of the Cloverdale Graphic. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion and retired in 1970 as commissary manager at the Indiana State Farm in Putnamville. He was a veteran of WWI. Survivors besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Goss of Martinsville and Nancy McCullough of Cloverdale; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. The Rev. Edward Curtice will officiate at the services, and burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery.
