A telegram to Jerome Allen this morning announces the death of Mrs. Joel E. Allen, which occurred at Glendale, Montana on Monday evening.  The relatives in this city were totally surprised by the sad news, having known nothing of her illness.  Lung fever was the cause of death.  The telegram adds the information that the remains will arrive in this city on Saturday next.  Later notice will be given of the funeral arrangements.   --– kbz

The funeral of Mrs. Joel E. Allen took place Sunday morning at 9:30 o’clock from the residence of JRM Allen on College Avenue.  Dr. Gobin conducted the services.  There was a large attendance of sympathizing friends and relatives of the deceased, together with the Daughter of Rebekah and IOOF. The members of these two organizations formed an open column at the grave, through which the funeral cortege passed.  In addition to the visiting relatives of the grief-stricken husband there were present from Thorntown where the deceased formerly resided, the mother, two sisters, brother and brother-in-law of Mrs. Allen.  She was sick only four days having died of lung fever.  She leaves two children and a devoted husband to mourn her loss of a most estimable mother and wife.  Mr. Allen will return on Tuesday to Glendale, Montana where he olds the office of postmaster and is also engaged in the drug business.   --– kbz
