ALLEN, Martin V. - Putnam

Martin V. Allen was born Sept 18, 1841; died July 9, 1907 of cancer of the liver. At the age of 19 he was married to Nancy A. Raredon who is still living. Their family consists of 7 children, four sons and three daughter and are all living but one daughter. Brother Allen was a man respected by all that knew him, upright in his dealings with his neighbors in all things, always ready to help any one in need and will be greatly missed not only by his family but by neighbors also. He was a member of Big Walnut Baptist Church for the last 30 years of his life.  During his sickness he would often say to his family that he was anxious to go home and be at rest. His funeral was at the residence. Bro. Evans officiated.  A large crowd of neighbors and friends were present. The remains were laid to rest in the Allen graveyard near his old home. - kz
