ALLEN, Margaret Lovett - 1924 - Putnam

Greencastle, June 21 – Mrs. Margaret Cecelia Allen passed away early Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Stoner, after an illness of a few months duration, the latter few weeks of which her condition became critical. Mrs. Allen was born and raised in Putnam County. She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Walash Lovett, and was born May 21, 1856 on a farm west of Roachdale. She was married to William H. Allen Dec 1, 1877 and to this union 10 children were born, nine of whom are living. They are: Lawrence L. Allen of Rushville; Mrs. Minnia S. Phares, Tipton; Mrs. Madonna Stone, O (hio?); Mrs. Kathryn C. Payne, Deming, Greencastle; Paul Allen, Rushville; Archie Allen, Colorado Springs, Colo; Clifford Allen, Cleveland, O; Mrs. Kathryn C. Payne, Deming, New Mexico; Mrs. Dorothea Rauck, Louisville, Ky and Robert M. Allen of Chicago. Mrs. Allen also leaves three brother and five sisters: WD Lovett, Greencastle; MF Lovett, Carthage, Ind; TJ Lovett, Crawfordsville; the Misses Mary, Kate and Nell Lovett of this city, Mrs. George Thompson of Delphi, Indiana and Mrs. Chas. Crawley of this city. Mrs. Allen was also a devout member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. - kbz
