Mrs. Lutitia Allen died Tuesday morning at the family residence on east Washington street. Mrs. Allen was one of the oldest citizens of Greencastle and Putnam County, having been born in 1808, making her about 87 years of age. She was the relict of John S. Allen, one of the settlers of Putnam County, moving here from Kentucky. Her only son was Thomas O. Allen, now deceased. The cause of death was old age. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Services at the residence.

The will of Lutitia Allen, deceased was Tuesday probated in circuit court. Wm .H. Ragan is named as executor, the instrument bearing the date of July 16, 1897, with MA & TT Moore as witnesses. The will gives to John S. Allen a 60’ lot located at Peck’s enlargement in south Greencastle; to John S. and Amelia Allen $100 each; then the residue of the estate is given to the deceased, great grandson, Ralph Pitchlyn and great granddaughter, Maggie Pitchlyn, to share alike.
