ALLEN, Elinor Kenworthy - Putnam

WILLIAMSPORT — Elinor E. (Kenworthy) Allen, 86, a resident of Greencastle and formerly of Warren County, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 in Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle, of complications following an automobile accident. She was born June 2, 1916 in Catlin, Ill., the daughter of Leonard and Jennie (Worley) Kenworthy. She was reared by her grandmother, Minnie Worley. She married Lewis Allen April 18, 1936 in Crawfordsville. He preceded in death Sept. 29, 1997. She lived in the Rainsville neighborhood for 51 years before moving to Greencastle in 1992. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School in 1934. She worked at Purdue University in institutional management of the cafeteria. She was an active member of the Hickman Heights Christian Church while a resident of Rainsville. After moving to Greencastle, she became a member of the Greencastle Christian Church where she was active in the Cain and Able Group. She was active in Warren County 4H for several years and the Hanging Rock Christian Assembly Camp in West Lebanon. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, cooking and her family enjoyed her baking. Survivors include: two daughters, Karen Ann Schneider, rural Williamsport and Kathryn Susan (Ted) Willer, Greencastle; a half sister, Betty (Roy) Wade, Cambridge, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Kenworthy, Williamsport; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers, Colorado, David Schneider, Warsaw and Josh and Annie Willer, both of Greencastle; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul "Doc" Kenworthy. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Williamsport Christian Church with Minister Mark. Miller and the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery. Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Hanging Rock Christian Camp. – jlr
