“Mrs. Ella Allee died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Frank Wallace.” This needs to replace first line, see below!
Mrs. Frank Wallace, died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elia Allee, age 72. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gillum Raines. She is also survived by Artie Raines of Marion Township and George Raines of Greencastle, and Mrs. J. A. Welch of Chicago. -- - thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituaries with us on this site - greatly appreciated !!
Note kbz: I did not find a Frank Wallace or a wife dying in 1935 in findagrave.com or in the death records or census record - hmmmm, there are 8 Raines daughters but think I've accounted for all of 'em unless this is a second marriage since their father passed away in 1901

Regarding the 1935 obituary posting for “Unknown Raines who married Frank Wallace”. You had posted a note with it asking who she could be. I believe the following information will clear up the mystery of who she was.
Ella Raines, the daughter of Cornelius Gillum Raines and Luticia Hardin, was born on 25 Feb. 1863 in Putnam Co., IN and died on 16 April 1935 in Greencastle. She was married to Frank A. Allee on 6 Nov 1883. To this union their daughter Lessie was born on 28 Aug. 1885. Lessie appeared to be their only child. Lessie Allee was married in Greencastle on 16 Aug. 1915 to Frank Wallace.
I believe what occurred was that there were two men named Frank in this family so there perhaps was some confusion when the obituary was written and possibly the surnames were reversed? I believe it should have read “Mrs. Ella Allee died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Frank Wallace.”
Thank you for all the valuable information you have posted on the Putnam County website - you guys “rock”. You set a fine example of what should be posted so that researchers can glean more history about their ancestors.
My ancestors were the Rev. John Mercer and wife Ruth Clearwater whose son Eli Mercer married Lucy Raines and to that union John Gillum Mercer was born. John married Lucinda Hardin, the daughter of my other ancestors Ennis Hardin and Mary Walton Dean. (Lucinda was a sister of Luticia Raines.) As you can see, I have some family history in Putnam County!
