We are pained to learn of the death of William Aldridge, proprietor of the Groveland Nurseries and an old and highly esteemed citizen of Floyd township in this county. The exact date of his death we have not at hand. His death was occasioned by a heavy stick of timber falling upon him whilst engaged in hauling wood. His near neighbor and intimate friend, William Collings, says of him – “Wm. Aldridge was an elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, lived a Christian life and enjoyed the confidence of his neighbors and in his death, the neighborhood will suffer a severe loss. He had lived in Indiana more than 50 years. - kbz
