ADER, David

On Thursday about noon, in a moment, almost in the twinkling of an eye, David Ader of Bainbridge was called from labor to repose, his death occurring at his farm, known as the Noah Evans farm I Floyd Township. The particulars, as we hear them are: Mr. Ader had been looking at a field of corn on the farm, accompanied by his tenant, Mr. Lewis. After examining the corn they rode their horses through the pasture out toward the road, when Mr. Ader complained suddenly of feeling very sick; Mr. Lewis immediately noticed his changed appearance and dismounted to go to his assistance but ere he reached his side, Mr. Ader became unconscious and fell from his horse with the lines still clasped in one of his hands. Lewis raised his head and supported him in his arms but the stricken one was past earthly aid – he breathed only two or three times and died peacefully without a struggle, with only God’s bright sky o’er him and His murmuring trees, and growing grass about him. A telegram was immediately sent to his son, Hon. FD Ader in this city and he and Mrs. Ader immediately left for the scene of death. The remains were cared for by Undertaker Andrew Hanna and then conveyed to the family residence at Bainbridge. The funeral takes place at 10 o’clock a.m. Saturday Sept 8 from the family residence; services conducted by Rev. AW Hawkins of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Decatur, Ills. The deceased was one of the best known residence of Putnam County and had a host of friends; for one of his years he was wonderfully hale and hearty and was possessed of energy and industry seldom found in men a half century his junior he was the larges land owner in the county holding in the neighborhood of 3,000 acres of land, much of it being of the best in North Putnam. His age was 72 years on March 6, 1894. The sorrowing wife and children have the sympathy of all in their sudden bereavement - kbz
