Lafayette, Feb 9 - Local railroad men say the Monon railroad has earned the title of being the most considerate and accommodating road in the United States.  The Monon accommodation, known as the “Bluebird,” which left here yesterday morning at 8:45 o’clock for Michigan City was proceeding at the rate of 25 miles an hour when engineer Hugh McMillan saw a man half buried in snow alongside the track.  He stopped the train and Conductor John Pangborn and the brakemen carried the man into the baggage car and he was taken to Michigan City and turned over to the authorities there.  He proved to be Thomas Terry, an Englishman who had been working near Otis on a farm.  He received word that his father in England had sent him a present to Benton Harbor and he says he had started to Michigan to get the package.   ---transcribed by kbz
