Robert Whitted, of Russellville had a narrow escape from death on Sunday afternoon. He and a young man named Randolph were riding on a motorcycle about two miles south of Russellville when they met Ed Oldshue's car at a crossroads. Miss Virginia was driving and was accompanied by Wm. Jarvis, Sr., Misses Josephine Barr & Lucille Patton. The motorcycle was demolished. The Randolph boy was stunned but not seriously injured. Whitted received severe cuts on top of the head and cheek bone and was rendered unconscious. An artery was cut on the head and a dangerous hemorrhage set in. Fortunately, Miss Barr is a trained nurse and was able to render effective first aid until a physician could be summoned. Whitted was taken to Russellville where he is getting along all right. The Oldshue car sustained a broken fender and other slight damage. Whitted is a son of John Whitted, who had his arm pulled off by a gasoline engine a few months ago.
