The Veronica Club celebrated its Golden Anniversary Wednesday with a luncheon at Old Trail Inn. It was a very enjoyable occasion for members and guests. During the social hour preceding the luncheon several pictures were taken. The tables were beautifully decorated in gold and white and the place cards with the names printed in gold letters and pink roses attached, since the pink rose is the Veronica flower. After the president, Mrs. Vernon Shirley, introduced all the members and guests, she paid a very special tribute to our charter member, Mrs. Otis Browning, who was present and responded with an appropriate message to the club. Mrs. Charles Sutherlin is also a charter member but was unable to attend. Mrs. Otis Gardner our honorary member for many years, was also unable to be present. For a most entertaining program Mr. Paul Mahoney wrote a skit “Memories of 50 Years" consisting of stories and songs. Dressed in chic costumes of 50 years ago, Mrs. Mahoney, assisted by Mrs. Ruth Steele, whistler and tenor; Mrs Beatrice Ratliff, soprano. Mrs. Bessie Michaels, 1st. alto; Mrs. Mary Conger, 2nd. alto, sang songs popular during the period from 1901 to 1951, beginning with Memories and closing with the Veronica club song.
