Source: Greencastle Banner and Times, Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana 1 Jan 1897 p 4

Through private sources we learn that Dr. James Newton Matthews of the well known as the "Poet of the __ies," and who by the way is a __ of this county, was married on Saturday (Thursday?). He lost his former wife three years since. The Banner was and its many readers cordinally congratulat the doctor.

Note: Dr. James Newton Matthews was born in Greencastle 27 May 1852 died 7 March 1910 in Mason, Effingham County, Illinois buried Mason Union Cemetery. In 1878 he married Lou E. Brown and in 1896 (Clay Illinois) he married Madeline Wright, which I assume is sho this is referring to, Madeline. According to the Directory of Deceased AMerican Physicians, he was an Allopathic doctor, died of pneumonia and went to the University of Illinois, graduating in medicine from the Missouri Medical College in 1878. There is a family tree on Ancestry that has several pictures of him, including an amazing shot of him in the casket
