The home of Mr. and Mrs. William Leachman was the scene of a pretty wedding at 4:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon when their daughter, Miss Effie Leachman became the bride of Allen Klinger. The house was beautifully decorated, the wedding colors being green and white. In the room of the ceremony an altar of smilax interwoven with white hearts was artistically arranged before which were pedestals bearing green and white candles. The house was darkened and made effective by candle light. The ceremony was read by Rev JE Sherrill, an uncle of the bride. Mrs. Gail Sherrill Kern sang, Love’s Coronation and Mrs EM Wilhite played the wedding march from Lohengrin for the entrance of the bridal party and during the ceremony she played Benediction Nuptiale and afterwards a varied musical program. The best man was a brother of the groom, the other attendants were Nellie Leachman of Coatesville and Tressie Ader, Ruth and Dorothy Hamrick were the flower girls and were charming in their costumes of rainbow tints. The bride wore a handsome gown of white silk with tunic of lace and pearl trimmings. Her coiffure was arranged with wreaths of orange blossoms and she carried a shower bouquet of bride roses tied with streamers of smilax and bridal tulle. A brilliant assemblage of relatives and friends witnessed the ceremony among whom were both grandmothers of the bride aged 83 and 84 respectively. A two-course luncheon followed the ceremony and white carnations were given the guests as favors. The bride and groom left that evening for their home in Madison, Wisconsin. The bride’s traveling costume was of brow velvet with hat to match. Both bride and groom are well-known in Putnam County – Danville Republican ---transcribed by kbz
