IRELAND, Belle - Frank SMITH
Source: Greencastle Star 3 Jan 1880 p 1
The intimate friends and relatives
gathered at the family residence, Tuesday afternoon in response to the
following invitation: Mr. and Mrs. John
IRELAND request your attendance at the marriage of their daughter Belle .. to
.. Frank Smith .. On Tuesday, Dec 30, 1792, 2 p.m. at the residence of the
bride’s parents on Anderson Street
Promptly at the time appointed the bridal
party entered the parlor, the bride being attended by Miss Ida Allen and Miss
Lillie Farrow, while the groom’s attendants were Messrs. Jerome Smith and Silas
A. Hays. The bride wore a dress of pale blue silk, and appeared handsome
indeed: the brides-maids wore white and the gentlemen were dressed in the black
suit usual on such occasions. Elder OP Badger pronounced the ceremony in an
impressive manner, after which the happy twain, now one, received the
congratulations of those assembled. The company then partook of the feast of
good things provided, and ‘twas truly a marriage feast – joyous and pleasant to
all who participated. We extend to the bride and groom our best wishes, hoping
that they will live long and enjoy all the happiness attainable with no sorrows
or shadows to mar their journey through life. Mr. and Mrs. Smith left for
Utica, NY on the afternoon express where they will visit the relatives of the
groom and then return to this city and make it their future home. The bride
received a large number of presents, many of them very elegant as will be
