Allen, Ida - William Overstreet

One of the most pleasing and
happy society events of the season was the marriage of Miss Ida Allen of this
city and Mr. Wm. Overstreet of Spencer, Ind at the residence of the bride’s
parents at 2 o’clock pm on Wednesday last. The ceremony was pronounced by Dr.
Marine in an impressive manner, before a large number of guests assembled. The
bride and groom were attended by Miss May H. Williams of Louisville, Miss Laura
Beckwith of this city and Mr. Henry Renick and Dr. DeVore also of this city.
The bride was dressed in cream colored satin, elaborately trimmed in lack and
pearl ornaments, the bridal vale (sic) being dressed with pond and water
lilies; Miss Williams wore white satin and lace and Miss Beckwith wore Tarleton
and satin, all appearing beautiful indeed, while the gentlemen were attired in
the customary black dress sits. After the ceremony the guests were regaled with
a sumptuous repast, worthy the auspicious occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Overstreet left for their future
home at Spencer, Ind via the Vandalia Line at 4:20 p.m. accompanied by the
congratulations and good wishes of a host of friends. Among the guests from
abroad we noticed Miss May Williams, Louisville; Miss Emma O’Hair, Paris; Miss
Anna Overstreet and Miss Hettie Alverson, Spencer; Will Miller, Paris; Mr. Gus.
Mason, Indianapolis; Miss Carrie Fuller and Mr. Frank Barton, Terre Haute and
Mr. Hays, Worthington. The bride received a large number of elegant presents…
