HARDWARE!  A new hardware store.  We have just entered into a copartnership  for the purpose of carrying on a General Hardware Trade, in connexion with Stoves and Tinware… Stevenson & Ames – Greencastle, May 21, 1856 (yep – not 1858 but 1856 so not real new since the article first came out over two years before - funny)
