Some interesting figures on 5 acre yields in Putnam County since records have been kept will be revealed at the annual Corn Growers Association banquet to be held this evening. The first record was made in 1916 when three members reported but there were no medals awarded that year in 1921 there were 14 members and no gold medals. The top winner was 89.6 bushels per acres winner was Rudolph Ratcliff.  The first gold medal winner was T.C. Dorsett in 1922 and his yield was T.C. Dorsett in 1922 and his yield was 103.2 bushels per acre.

The year of 1921 is the first year Putnam County has ever been recognized in 5-acre corn work n Indiana.  19 men entered the contest last June and 12 finished the contest Oct 11 and 12 of last year. The Central National Bank of Greencastle cooperating with the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, offered $50 cash to be divided among the six men producing the highest average yield entered in this contest in Putnam County.  Besides these prizes the Indiana State Corn growers Association has offered a gold medal for the men producing 100 bushels per acre or more; a silver medal for those producing 85 busines and bronze for those producing 75-85 per acre.  The list of members finishing the contest with their yield are as follows:

The cash premiums offered by the Central National Bank of Greencastle and the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce were divided as follows: First prize $18; Second prize $14; Third prize $8; Fourth $4; Fifth prize $3 and Sixth prize also $3.
