Yates, of Topeka, born in Putnam County, Indiana age 41 years deputy collector and second clerk in office served in the 71st Indiana Infantry, Company C, afterwards changed to the 6th Indiana cavalry, enlisted July 19th, 1862 discharged April 1865.
