George Wright, P. O. Ashby's Mills, Farmer, Section 10; son of Moses and Catherine Thomas Wright; was born in Hardin County, Ky on Feb 17, 1802; settled in this county 1831. He was married in his native county Oct 24, 1825 to Elizabeth Ann, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Stephens; born Dec 17, 1808, in Shelby Co Ky; 11 children have been born to him, of whom two, Lydia and Charles T., are dead; those living are: Mary, Thomas, James, Martin, Adala, Rebecca, John, Marquis Lafayette and Margaret C. In commencing life, Mr. Wright was obliged to borrow $100 at 20% to enter the first 80 acres of his present farm; his cabin was built in the woods, and then commenced the long and hard struggle for success; despite weariness and discouragement, he fought on, overcoming all obstacles, till now hei is the owner of 280 acres. He and his wife,who was his stay and support through all are members of the Regular Batpist Church, he being an Elder for 27 years. His father, Moses Wright of English descent was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His mother was of German descent.
