The Standard, of Dowagiac, Mich published by JA Webster, formerly of Russell Township this county, got out a woman’s edition on July 4, the ladies of the XIX Century and Symphony Clubs attending to the editorial work and business management of the edition. The paper gotten out by them is creditable in every respect – it is nicely illustrated, one of the portraits printed being that of Mrs. HM Lee, who will be remembered by our citizens as a daughter of William Briggs, deceased of this city; its editorial work is worthy of commendation; its mechanical execution is good and the indications are that it was up to date in a business way.- kbz
