WEBB, Samuel, PO Morton, Farmer, Sec 21 was born Sept 1, 1820 in Gallatin Co, son of Richard Webb (born Shelby Co KY March 1793), whose father was a native of VA and Nancy Newgent Webb, (a native of Ky, whose parents were married in Fredericksburg VA) settled in this county in 1833. Married in Parke County, Union Twp, in 1842. Nancy second child of Thomas and Betsey Barton; 14 children of whom 8 are dead: Elizabeth, William, Oliver, Charles and John (twins), Robert, Serena, and one who died in infancy. Those living: Levi, Frances, Christopher C, Nancy, Margaret, Henry and Dora. Mr. Webb has been married 3 times, his second wife was Sarah, daughter of Thomas and Frances Willy, natives of Ky; his third, Leah, daughter of John and Margaret Newgent, natives of Ky. His parents emigrated from Ky to this county in 1833, bought 15 acres of land on which they lived and died. He gained, by persistent industry, 293 1/2 acres of land, of which 213 1/2 acres are now in his possession, well cultivated, with good substantial buildings. Mr. Webb is an enterprising man, interested in all that effects the public welfare. Is a Democrat; has been for 14 years a faithful member of the Dunkard Church.
