WATSON, Alfred, PO Greencastle, Farmer Sec 26; born Oct 11, 1840 in Greencastle Township, this county. Son of Simpson, a native of Kentucky and Sally McFeeters Watson, a native of Tennessee, who settled in this county in 1822. Married Oct 28, 1866 in Monroe Township, to Melissa, daughter of Gabriel and Elizabeth Bundrant, the former born in Virginia, the letter in Indiana; children: Minnie M (deceased); Charles E. Mr. Watson is the 11th in a family of 20 children. He enlisted May 10, 1861 in 16th Indiana Volunteers and served one year; was promoted as Sgt. in Co. C, 6th Regiment Indiana Cavalry; discharged from service April 5, 1865; became 2nd Lt. of the same company and served till the end of the war; discharged Sept 15, 1861. He is now a farmer and owns 59 1/2 acres of good land. He is a sound Republican and W. M. of Grange No. 415. He and wife are members of the ME Church.
