SUBLETT, Walter G.

Walter G. Sublett

Source: This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames.
Surnames in this biography are: SUBLETT, Brooks, Snyder, Sutherland, Cox
Typed by Lora Radiches

WALTER G. SUBLETT is a resident of Putnamville and has a manufacturing business at Greencastle. Mr. Sublett learned the trade of stonecutter, but for many years has conducted an establishment for the manufacture of concrete blocks and other materials, and he specializes in the making of the Sublett Automatic Sealing Water Proof Cement Burial Vaults. He was born in Putnam County, August 19, 1880. His father, David Sublett, was also a native of Putnam County, a contractor and builder, who did an extensive business all over this section of Indiana. He died in May, 1926. David Sublett married Julia Brooks, who was born in Putnam County and died in February, 1924. They were the parents of three children: Ida, wife of Noble Snyder, of Greencastle; Walter G.; and Margaret, wife of Clyde Sutherland, of Putnamville. Walter G. Sublett attended the grade and high schools at Putnamville and as a youth learned the trade of stonecutter. He worked at his trade until 1906, in which year he established his plant at Greencastle for the manufacture of concrete blocks. Out of his individual experience and experimental work he added another industry, the making of burial vaults, and he has devised a type that has proved to be absolutely waterproof and has gained the endorsement of and is sold extensively through undertaking establishments over a wide section of country. Mr. Sublett married, December 24, 1905, Miss Rose Cox, of Putnamville. They have one child, Geraldine, born in 1912, who is now a student in DePauw University. Mr. Sublett is an independent voter. His wife and daughter are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He is affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America.
