ROBINSON, JAMES B., is the youngest child of James and Velina A. (HOPKINS) ROBINSON, natives of Virginia, and was born in Floyd Township, Putnam Co., Ind., born March 15, 1845; he remained in Floyd Township until his sixteenth year, receiving a good common-school education. In 1861, he volunteered in defense of his country, enlisting in the Seventy-eighth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, as a private; he served his time out for which he enlisted, and afterward re-enlisted at Mason, Effingham Co., Ill., in the One Hundred and Forty-third Illinois Volunteers, remaining in it until mustered out of the service. Previous to his second enlistment, he had begun the study of medicine at Mason Ill., and during his last term of service was employed in the medical department of his regiment, from which he was honorably discharged. After the war, he turned his whole attention to the study and practice of his chosen profession; graduated at the Indiana Medical College, of Indianapolis, in 1875, and has practiced medicine in the counties of Hendricks and Putnam up to the present. Dr. ROBINSON has been married twice, his first wife dying of consumption a few months after marriage; he was again married December 30, 1869, to Mary E. WRIGHT, daughter of Wheeler and Harriet (WISE) WRIGHT; he a native of Union County, Ind., and she of Kentucky. Mrs. ROBINSON was born in Effingham Co., Ill., November 25, 1851; two children have been born to them - Claud ROBINSON, born July 27, 1872, and who died June 11, 1877; he was a child of rare intelligence and loveliness of disposition, but our Heavenly Father saw fit to take him home, and though the loss to his parents is great, there is added one more bright jewel to the angelic throng; the other child, Paul ROBINSON, was born August 13, 1878. Dr. ROBINSON was made a Master Mason in 1867, in Putnam County, and a Royal Arch Mason in 1875; he joined the I. O. O. F. at Coatsville, Hendricks Co., Ind.; of both Orders, he has made a good member, being always ready for duty. Both he and wife belong to the Christian Church in Fillmore, having become members by baptism in 1876. Politically, the Doctor is a Democrat, believing firmly in the principles advocated by that party. The portraits of himself and wife will be found on the pages of the illustrated atlas of the county. He has a good practice, and has won the respect and confidence of the community at large.
