Abraham L. Preston, Republican candidate for treasurer of Haughville, was born in Greencastle in 1860.  He attended the public schools and at 15 entered the preparatory department of DePauw University then Asbury. Leaving college in the junior year he entered the Medical College of Indiana. In 1881, from which he was graduated after a three years’ course. In 1884 he took a position with Buntin & Armstrong, druggists, Terre Haute where he remained 8 months. He began the practice of his profession in Greencastle, April 1885, removing to Fillmore, Putnam County in August the same year. He married Miss Mary B. Walder of Indianapolis in 1886. In March 189, he located in Haughville, where he has been practicing medicine. He has never held any public office.
