Less than two weeks after the celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. UV O’Daniel 516 East Seminary street the family circle was broken by the death of Mr. O’Daniel which occurred Sunday morning about 8:30 o’clock. Mr. O’Daniel had dressed ready to go to Sunday School and had just returned to the house from sweeping the snow from the walks in front of the house. He was sitting on a window seat in the living room and in a conversation with Mrs. May Wood remarked about the number of death recently. Just then he fell to the floor dead. Death was caused by acute dilation of the heart due to over-exertion. Funeral services will be at the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. C. Howard Taylor in charge. Burial will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery. Mr. O’Daniel was 76 years 11 months 2 days of age and has been a resident of Greencastle for the past 30 years moving here from Cloverdale where he and Mrs. O’Daniels had been born and lived their early life. Mr. O’Daniel was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William O’Daniel and was married to Miss Mahala Horn, daughter of the on Jan 15, 1860 at the Methodist Church at Cloverdale. While residing there he was engaged in the sale of general merchandise and buggies. After he moved to Greencastle, he traveled for a number of years then was engaged in the automobile business. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Methodist Church and Odd Fellow’s Lodge. Besides the widow he is survived by a son Edgar V. O’Daniel and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Gwinn of Bronxville, New York who were here with their parents recently to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Four grandsons and four granddaughters and a brother, Wesley O’Daniel of Cloverdale and niece Mrs. John Garrett Hill of Chicago, also survives. The son and daughter and Mrs. Hill arrived here early this afternoon and Mr. Gwinn will arrive Tuesday. ~~~transcribed by kbz
