MILLER, John H. PO Fincastle, Farmer, Section 16; born March 5, 1835 Clark Co KY; parents Jeremiah Miller born in Clark Co KY and Louan Miller born in same county. Married Oct 27, 1864 in Greencaslte, Mary E, born July 9, 1842, daughter of John and Sally Ragland, natives of Ky who settled in this county 1835; his grandfather, David Ragland on his mother's side was a soldier in the War of 1812. At the breaking out of the war, Mr. Miller espoused the Confederate cause enlisted in the 1st Ky served 3 years, was captured in Ky in 1863 and exchanged within 20 days at Petersburg Va. After his discharge, he came to Indiana and has since resided here; was elected Twp Trustee in the spring of 1878 (3?). Is amember of the Regular Baptist Church, his wife belonging to the Missionary Baptist; politically, a Democrat and is held in respect by his neighbors.commencing life poor, he now owns 58 aacres of land. His brother Asa is the editor and manager of the Douglas County Review in Tuscola, Ill.
