James McClary is one of the oldest citizens in our county, being 83 years of age. He still lives on the land which he entered from the government in 1829 in Monroe Township

James McClary, aged 85, died at his home near Bainbridge, Putnam County, day before yesterday. He came to Putnam County in 1827, and was the last of the early pioneers who continued to live on the land which they entered. - kbz


Note:  James McClary actually entered his land on the 6th day of June, 1832 - Twp 15N Range 4W
E 1/2 SW 1/4 of Sec 25

Note 2:  He was born i nFleming County, Kentucky Oct 20, 1804 and was married to Sallie Morrison on Oct 1, 1829 moved to this county in 1833 and to his farm in 1835.  Father of 7 children.  Sallie passed 26 Sept 1863 - buried Brick Chapel Cemetery
