Phil Maxwell, who is well known as the director of the
annual Chicago and Music Festival, was the guest speaker at the meeting of the
Lansing Woman’s Club held on Monday. He
gave personality sketches of Carrie Jacobs Bond and John T. McCutcheon, both of
whom have been honored at Music festivals in the past. He also gave a travel
talk on a recent trip to Guatemala, stressing the friendly, cordial manner in
which he was received by the people there. Maxwell was born in Greencastle,
Indiana and is still a “Hoosier” at heart as indicated by his love of songs and
stories of Indiana. - kbz
