LENARD (sic - Leonard), Augustus - PO Portland Mills, Farmer, Section 29; born March 3, 1834 in Prussia son of Andrew and Mary Noske Lenard of Germany; Mr. Lenard was the youngest in a family of six children; he, two brothers and one sister emigrated to this country from Germany in 1852; live din PA one year and then Illinois where he lived two years, thence to Indianapolis and reached this county Jan 2, 1856 where he has since resided with the exception of two years in clinton Co INd; was a solder in the late war, serving 100 days in 1862, enlisting in 87th Regt Ind Inf Co. B. He married July 6, 1859 in Greencastle, ind Minerva Mount-Forgey, born in Russell Twp Nov 15, 1828, daughter of James and Jane VanScoiack Forgy; he and wife are members of the Methodist Church; their children's names are Ella J; Wallace W; Laurie L; and Caora M; his wife's parents were from Nicholas Co KY settled in this county Oct 1825; were members of the Methodist Church, her father was born in 1797, died Sept 1858; her mother born Oct 1799 died March 1860. Mr. Leonard owns 160 acres of land in this county. Is Republican in politics.
