A. LEMP, jeweler, Covington, who has by his own efforts fought his way to a good standing among the most successful of Covington’s merchants, and the oldest dealer in the line of jewelry in the city. Is a native of Alexandria, Hamilton Co. Ohio. He came to Fountain County with his people in 1847, his father being a teacher of music. He first began at clerking and then learned the trade of a stone-cutter, which he also gave up, and 1857 engaged in his present line of business. In June of 1870 he became the agent for the American Express Company, and in 1880 he also became agent for a full line of Madam Demorest’s patterns. Mr. Lemp is a member of Covington Lodge No. 21, 1. 0. 0. F. and has never held any office farther than being a member of the city council.
