LAFOLLETTE, William B. PO Carpentersville, Farmer Sec 13, was born Oct 25, 1829 in this township on Sec 3 and married in Montgomery County Ind Dec 27, 1851, Mary ann, daughter of George E. and Elizabeth KYLE, the former from VA the latter from Ky setttled in Montgomery Co about 1830 and both died there, the mother when her daughter was 12 the father July 14, 1872; Mrs. Lafollette was born Dec 25, 1833 and has had 11 children: George E, born Nov 12, 1852; John W. April 3, 1854; Martha E Dec 18, 1855; Sarah E, Oct 22, 1857; James F Dec 28, 1859; Myrta E, March 19, 1862; Charles A July 18, 1864; Etta, Nov 8, 1866; Anna G, March 17, 1869; Robert E. Lee, June 5, 1871 and Orestes June 15, 1873. To the industry of himself and family Mr. Lafollette owns his farm of 86 acres of well-imiproved land. In politics, is a Democrat. His father, John, born in Hardin Co KY came to this county in 1827. Married Betsy BRUCE, the daughter of Maj. William Bruce, founder of Bruceville, Knox Co Ind. Entered 90 acres of land in Sec 3 of this township; disposed of them and entered 207 acres in this and Jackson Twps, where he still resides. In early life his means were very limited, having had to borrow money to procure his first piece of land; but by industry and economy ha snow a comfortable place. He has been a minister in the Baptist Church about 35 years. His wife is still living both having reached their 75th year.
